He was really relaxed and played along. Pretty good showing.
Here’s his first appearance.
Not nearly as good as I had hoped. Didn’t push the issue as much as he normally does.
Not bad. It would have been nicer to give him a bit more time but that’s always the case.

Stephen Colbert’s belated White House bid took an actual baby step Thursday, when he officially filed for the South Carolina primary as a Democrat. While he has vowed to also run as a Republican, apparently the $35,000 filing fee in that state was too much to bear — and we know how he hates bears.
But his baby step went in the wrong direction quickly, when the evil Dems denied him a place on the ballot this afternoon. The party’s executive council met Thursday afternoon in Columbia to decide which candidates met the criteria to be placed on the ballot — and Colbert didn’t make the cut, executive director Joe Werner said.
Apparently he did not meet the criteria of being a “serious” candidate, since he was campaigning, so far, in only one state.
I’m not sure what he’s trying to do with all this. It would be silly if he’s just trying to show how ridiculous the rules to get on the ballot are. This all seems to have been some rushed publicity stunt. If he wanted to really try to show up the process he should have planned this all out from the beginning and tried to get on all 50 state ballots.
