Press release from said website:

DALLAS, TEXAS - JUNE 16, 2008 /PRNewswire/—Ross Perot, business leader and former presidential candidate, announced today the launch of “PerotCharts.com,” a public information website that contains objective, factual information about the current economic crisis in America. The site is being launched as an alert and appeal for American citizens to inform themselves about federal government spending. Perot said, “The U.S. national debt reached $9.4 TRILLION on April 30, and it is increasing by more than $1 billion every day. We are leaving our children and grandchildren with debt they cannot possibly pay.”

The rest on the other side of the jump…

Ron Paul infomercials?

Kent Snyder, Lew Moore, Jesse Benton and the rest of the Ron Paul senior staff can expect a phone call soon from Jim LeFave, president of syndication at Hollywood Closeups, an LA company that specializes in syndicated television programming. LeFave is preparing to pitch the same idea to the campaign team that I voiced in my column two days ago. I spoke with LeFave by phone, and it was clear to me that he is very excited about doing this project.

“I’ve already priced a coordinated media buy in New Hampshire and Iowa, and I’ve checked out the various TV network requirements. Basically, as long as they can offer the same thing to the other candidates, there is no problem with buying prime-time for an infomercial. This is great for two reasons. One, the idea is perfect for someone like Ron Paul who needs to be heard in detail. Two, the other candidates aren’t likely to have an infomercial ready in the short time left between now and the beginning of January,” said LeFave.

I’d like to see this done just to see if it has any impact. It surely did with Ross Perot. Paul’s platform is a bit more sophisticated than the rest of those running and requires more than 30 seconds to explain. Several 3 minute segments would be perfect to do just that. Like with the Google interview, his appearance on The Tonight Show and his You Choose ‘08 interviews… more time definitely helps.
