I’m writing in response to Keene Sentinel columnist Michael Schuman’s story titled “Will the Free Staters Please Sit Down?” I must admit, a couple of years ago, before coming to understand the message of liberty, I would have agreed with Schuman’s opinions.

Schuman’s views are consistent with what many would describe as main stream America. Unfortunately many of his ideas are based in ignorance and misunderstanding that stems from a lack of critical thinking. Like most of us, Schuman probably attended government indoctrination centers where school children are taught to stand on their X, respect authority, and do as you’re told without question.

Take a look at the pledge of allegiance. How many other countries have one? How many of you know it was written by Fancis Bellamy, a National Socialist (Nazi) flag salesman, to “instill a strong belief in the state.” Dont believe me? Look it up on the internet. You’re likely to find the same picture I did of school children doing a Roman salute – the same one Hitler’s army used – before that was changed after WWII.

Schuman’s description of a classical libertarian is severely flawed and his examples display an ignorance of private property vs. individual rights.

Help create propaganda against the Canadian underground economy

Those who participate in the CUE aren’t freeloaders… they are trying to limit their exposure to and the harm done by a gang of thugs calling themselves the Canadian government.

Big government wasteful spending at its worst

There’s a post title I thought I’d never write. Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, posted a video of her cats on her official YouTube page and then promptly RickRolls viewers at the 37 second mark.

“In honor of the launch of http://YouTube.com/HouseHub, Speaker Pelosi presents a behind the scenes view of the Speaker’s Office in the US Capitol.”

This is the person who becomes President of the United States of America if the right two people go down.

I’m moving to Canada. Thanks for the tip Michael.

PS – Where’s the RIAA when you need them? Somebody somewhere owns the copyright on that song. I’d forgive all if they sued Pelosi.

I mean really. Just how in the fuck can you justify this? Cats? RickRolling? A fucking gavel with her damn name on it!! Aren’t they supposed to be wasting their stolen money on “the children” or the poor or fighting the rich or killing brown people?

Toronto bans bottled water and taxes plastic bags

http://www.thestar.com/…

Toronto shoppers will start paying five cents for throw-away plastic shopping bags starting June 1, Toronto council has decided.

And despite a determined lobby from bottled water companies to block the measure, councillors voted to ban the sale or distribution of bottled water immediately at City Hall and the city’s civic centres where contracts permit.

Bottled water at other city-owned facilities such as arenas and theatres will be banned by the end of 2011.

The final vote wasn’t close: 30 in favour of the bag and bottle measures, and 13 against.

Retailers will be required to accept reusable bags or containers from shoppers starting next June.

Mayor David Miller said “free” shopping bags really aren’t cost-free.

“There’s a cost to the city and the people of Toronto in disposing of them, there’s a cost to the environment and there’s a cost to the retailers,” Miller said after the vote.

Miller also defended the city’s moves to push bottled water out of its own facilities, arguing that the city produces its own high quality water.

“I don’t believe as Canada’s largest purveyor of tap water we should be selling water in our facilities,” he said.

I’ve got little to say about this besides they’re ridiculous. The bottled water thing is obviously not something the public demands and I plastic bags aren’t destroying the environment.

Canadian politics actually a little interesting this week

Posted on December 7th, 2008 at 12:34pm by bile Tags: , , , , , , , , , , ,

http://news.bbc.co.uk/…

The Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, has managed to hang onto power by his fingernails, capping an extraordinary and unprecedented week in Canadian politics.

The country’s governor general, Michaelle Jean, agreed to the prime minister’s request to prorogue – or suspend – parliament until 26 January.

Prorogation was one of the few powers Mr Harper had at his disposal to stave off an opposition vote of non-confidence scheduled for Monday, 8 December.

His minority Conservative government would have almost certainly been toppled, just two months after Canadian voters went to the polls.

Standing under falling snow, on the steps of the governor general’s official residence in Ottawa, Stephen Harper said he was willing to work with the opposition parties and listen to what they have to say as he prepares a budget, to be presented on 27 January as parliament resumes.

“Today’s decision will give us the opportunity for all the parties to focus on the economy and work together,” said Mr Harper.

But he did not admit to any errors of judgment and offered no new economic measures to satisfy the opposition.

It was the Conservative government’s economic proposals, just a week before, that provoked the full-scale opposition rebellion in the first place.

Presenting his fiscal update, in the tradition of a government that has valued cautious, prudent spending over grand bailouts, Finance Minister Jim Flaherty offered only the most frugal stimulus package to boost the ailing Canadian economy.

Mr Flaherty also announced cuts to a public fund for political parties and even though the latter proposal was hastily withdrawn, it was regarded by some in the opposition as a red rag to a bull.

Translation: “You aren’t being Keynesian enough!! You need to pay off more interest groups!!”
