With America fighting two wars, the 9/11 terrorists still at large, Iran pursuing nuclear weapons

and Russia in Georgia, America needs a president who gets it right the first time. That president will be Barack Obama. With a vision of foreign policy that has ranged far beyond Iraq, Barack Obama has found a kindred spirit in another leader of great strength and wisdom Joe Biden.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden believe we must fight the terrorists not where we imagine them to be, but where we know them to belike Afghanistan and Pakistan. We must lead a global effort to secure loose nuclear materials, not where we imagine them to be, but where we know them to be, in Russia, and the countries of the former Soviet Union.

It’s time we had a president committed to fighting poverty in the Third World and ending the genocide in Darfur; who leads international efforts to stop global warming, strengthens our friendship with Mexico and Latin America, and stands behind Israel with full-time diplomacy to achieve peace in the Middle East; a president who ends the global scourge of AIDS in our time and sets an example of moral leadership by following our constitution, shutting down Guantanamo, and ending torture.

They don’t care that we are trampling around the global like a kid hyped up on sugar and a baseball bat. They just want to make sure we do it in a softer manner. They want to make sure the public doesn’t see it so obviously. They are all on the same team though. They all pepetrate the lie about Russia, Georgia and South Ossetia. They all wish to make enemies of people who pose no harm to us and in cases where they may its deserved in that they have been threating them. They all want larger government both domestically and internationally. When the USA sumbles as a result of it’s global adventures and money minipulation don’t be supprised when the rest of the world gangs up on us and gives us (unfortunately they won’t differenciate between the public and the government, just as our government doesn’t) some of our own medicine.

Is it surprising that a large portion of those in support are directly or indirectly government bureaucrats?

I caught a bit of Bill Richardson on CNN this morning. Where I came in in the interview they were talking about the backlash Barak Obama is getting from his supporters for changing his position on the recent FISA bill passed in the Senate. From being opposed to the telecom immunities and saying he would filibuster if it was kept to voting for closure and the bill itself.

Richardson tries to explain away Obama’s position change saying in effect: “That’s just the realities of politics when running for president. He [Obama] has said when he’s in office he will see how the law is working and act accordingly.” What’s the realities? That you don’t have a spine? That special interests tell you what to do?

Then they change topics to energy and how the government is going to solve this supposed problem. They show a clip from an anti-McCain ad which critisizes him for wanting to allow drilling because it will take upwards of 7 years “to get the first drop of oil.” So complaining he doesn’t have a short term solution. The interviewer brings up that Obama doesn’t have much of a short term plan either. They quote things from his energy plan which go into effect in 2025, 2050, etc. Richardson hems and haws and beats around the bush. He just goes on to say that drilling is a good idea, as long as it’s not in nice places like Alaska.

Whatever the case these guys piss me off. Yes, I know, they are just acting like typical politicians but still. I’ve heard so much bullshit from people about how he’s different. Gotten into discussions on why he should be supported because he’s different. He’s not. It’s obvious to anyone not awestruck.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court of Texas ruled that Child Protective Services (CPS) abused its discretion by seizing 468 children from the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints ranch in Eldorado. Eugene Volokh has a roundup of the legal analysis.

CPS invited some mental health workers to the various shelters to help care for the hundreds of children. The mental health workers were disturbed by what they saw of CPS’s treatment of the women and children, and their written reports corroborate the bitter complaints of the FLDS mothers. I don’t think the news media has given this aspect of the story the attention it deserves — so here are some excerpts from the various reports that have been made public:

• “Women were constantly lied to about where their children [were] and when they could see their lawyers and about when they would be reunited with their children.”
• “Constant reminders that the adult women were only guests and that they were not in charge of the children and what CPS did to them. [The children] belonged to CPS now and they could talk, interrogate, separate and treat them any way [CPS] wanted. This included physical exams and x-rays without [parental] supervision.”
• “I sat with Audrey while three of her children were removed for six hours of questioning.”
• “The children arrived healthy and happy and left sick and crying.”
• “The door to the room was almost constantly open. Even when the women closed the door to reduce noise during naptime or to dress themselves or the children, it was almost immediately opened again [by a CPS worker].”
• “The women were lied to and denied access to their attorneys.”
• “At least 5 mothers reported that at night CPS [workers] circled their beds, held flashlight in their faces & then would sit inches away from them as they tried to sleep. Mothers reported that they were scared CPS would take their children during the night.”
• “The CPS workers were openly rude to the mothers and the children, yelled at them for trying to wave to friends and family members in surrounding shelters, threatened them with arrest if they did not stop waving to others, continually reminded them that the women were guests only and could be made to leave if they did not cooperate, threatened the mothers with never seeing their children again if they did not cooperate, and ignored requests for anything.”
• “The children were amazingly clean, happy, healthy, energetic, inquisitive, well behaved, and self-confident; while the mothers were consistently calm, patient, and loving with their children.”
• “Living conditions in the coliseum were not conducive to good health for anyone, and the presence of hostile CPS workers who spied on them constantly, kept them awake at night by shining lights in their faces and talking and laughing created enormous stress for the mothers and children. None of them slept well or enough.”
• “Try to imagine all these children from age 1 to 12 years, left in that coliseum [separated from their mothers] with only CPS and [police officers] to care for them. The only others were mothers whom CPS decided were under 18 and kept in their custody along with their children. The floor was literally slick with tears in places. A baby was left in a stroller without food and water for 24 hours and ended up in the hospital. A 4 year old boy was so terrified that he snuck away and hid and was only found after the coliseum had been emptied the next day.”
• “I witnessed a young mother named Rosinith be required by CPS to board the bus back to the ranch, though her young child was in the hospital with 104 degree fever and even though the child’s physician had personally requested the mother’s presence at the hospital. This event haunts me still, and I cannot imagine such a heartless act.”
• “By the second day, I was ready to run in front of the CNN cameras to shout that there was a travesty happening inside those walls…. Of course I was cautioned not to interfere in a ‘crime scene investigation.’”
• “I have always been proud to be an American and a Texan but this incident is not what America or Texas stands for and something must be done to undo the horrible injustice that has been done.”

CPS denies the allegations of mistreatment. But the excerpts above are eyewitness reports from objective/disinterested social workers that CPS invited into the shelters.

Justice is still not served. Not until restitution is paid and those who brought this about are punished directly. Now we need the state to return the children kidnapped from Strong City. Jeff Bent, Wayne Bent aka Michael Travesser son, was on Free Talk Live yesterday for those interested.

There are a lot of people online going nuts about Paul’s 8% result in New Hampshire yesterday. I have to admit I’m surprised by the results. RealClearPolitics.com has 6 polls’ numbers and their average. The averages look like this:

• McCain: 31.8%
• Romney: 28.2%
• Huckabee: 12.2%
• Giuliani: 9.3%
• Paul: 8.2%
• Thompson: 2.2%

What we got was:

• McCain: 37.02%
• Romney: 31.48%
• Huckabee: 11.20%
• Giuliani: 8.53%
• Paul: 7.23%
• Thompson: 1.21%
• Hunter: 0.51%
• Other: 2.40%

Huckabee, Giuliani, Paul and Thompson look pretty close to the polls which were of likely Republican voters. Is it really the case that the Independents flocked to McCain? I was expecting that Paul would have at least gotten enough Independents to keep his percentile. The events I’ve attended the independents, new voters and Democrats who switched outweighed those who where originally from the Republican party or Libertarian party. I would have suspected that he would have gotten at least 8% of the independents so he’d be at around 8% in the end. It is the Live Free or Die state… and Iowa which can hardly be considered libertarian gave him 10%. It’s the state that gave Pat Buchanan the win in 1996 and Buchanan has been speaking really well of Paul (though no official endorsement.) It all feels a bit weird but I’ve not seen any evidence of foul play. Sutton township accidentally reported zero votes for Paul when it was 31. Shit happens. http://ronrox.com/paulstats.php shows differences between votes counted by hand and votes handled by machines. It is interesting that Paul does a full 2% better in hand counted polls. McCain does 2.87% better and Huckabee 2.65% better. Romney does 7.51% worse. I’d like to see the economic breakdown of those areas which hand counted vs machine. But even with this I’m in no way convinced this means anything. I’ve yet to see anything to indicate foul play. I think it’s much more likely that we screwed up. “[A] late campaign start, late arrival by volunteers, an MSM media black-out, seeing your volunteers spending the last 36 hours of the campaign protesting FOX News and chasing down NeoCon radio hosts instead of focusing on the get-out-the-vote effort, the weather-induced record turnout that allowed the wishy-washy to water down die-hard voters, and so on and so on.” However, as Nick Bradley indicates, Among total votes cast Paul is in 4th at 8.6% above Giuliani at 7.0%. I don’t suspect to continue however given he’s only got max 5% nationwide and if he’s not getting delegates it doesn’t matter. So unless Paul supporters go mascaraed as supporters of McCain and Romney we are SOL.

My worry now is that Paul will decide not to run 3rd party or will not run on the Libertarian ticket. He has till May to become a Libertarian Party member in order to be a candidate. If he does not end up on the Libertarian ticket he would probably run Independent and therefore against the Libertarian and Constitutionalist candidates instead of uniting them. I think it would be in the best interest of the country, Ron Paul and the Libertarian party to have Paul on it’s ticket.
