- ~11:47AM: I arrived to 500 Pearl St, Manhattan. Four to six officers, including Officer Barnes, are standing across from Julian Heicklen at the pillars which separate federal court property from the city sidewalk. They notice me almost immediately.
- ~11:49AM: A man dressed in a black suit and tie who is conversing with Officer Barnes and the others takes a photo of me using his cellphone.
- ~11:50AM: Officer Barnes approaches Julian and words are exchanged. Julian falls to the ground facing the ground and is flipped over. Officer Barnes takes Julian’s sign and pamphlets and brings them across the street to his SUV.
- ~11:51AM: As Barnes walks back across the street toward the courtyard he looks over at me and yells “Having fun yet?!”
- ~12:05PM: Barnes and others walk over to Julian as he continues to lay still on the stone and appear to get him to respond. He does not appear to.
- ~12:35PM: An ambulance is heard and then seen coming up Pearl Street and parks in front of where the officers and Julian are.
- ~12:48PM: Officer Barnes walks over to the ambulance and enters.
- ~12:53PM: Officer Barnes exits the ambulance.
- ~12:55PM: Ambulance starts to drive away. I begin my exit. Officer Barnes waves to me and yells from across the street: “Bye, see you next week!”
During the event several people stopped and asked me what was going on, why the officers weren’t attending to Julian, etc. Comments by those passing by were mixed. Some neutral simply stating what they believed he was doing. Others called him “nuts” or “crazy”. Several different officers from what appeared to be different departments arrived and left the scene. All of them watched me as I observed.

Assuming he’s going to be in for awhile can you please post info on what federal district this is, what US Attorney plus any number associated with his arrest/incarcertion, like a Bureau Of Prisons #?

He is generally let go shortly after his arrest or being brought to the hospital. He was arrested today and apparently handed over to the NYPD but we don’t yet know what his status is.

Thanks for doing this Bile. This type of activism is important. On a side note: A libertarian in Manhattan? You have brass ones, my friend! I get heart palpitations when I cross the broader from CT to NY for work. :)

No problem. There are quite a few libertarians in Manhattan. Not enough obviously :-)
