Don’t speak ill of those in charge
In medieval English law, the crime of “high treason” included the offense of “compassing” (or imagining) “the death of our lord the king, of his lady our queen, or of their eldest son and heir.”
The equivalent practice in imperial America consists of making any comment, however flippant or implausible, that can be construed by professional paranoids in federal employ as expressing even a transient interest in harming the holy person of the President.
As American statism curdles into outright totalitarianism, it’s becoming a crime in some jurisdictions to express violent or hostile intentions toward the state’s armed enforcement agents.
Antavio Johnson of Lakeland, Florida was recently sentenced to two years in prison for a purported crime described as “corruption by threat of public servant.” His “offense” was to record a rap number (the word “song” is inapposite) entitled “Kill Me A Cop,” in which the parolee mentioned by name specific police officers with whom he quite obviously had serious grievances.
Johnson’s rap offering was posted last February on the MySpace page of Hood Certified Entertainment, a record label catering to a particular slice of the hip-hop market.
It’s never a good idea to harbor, much less express, a desire to murder another human being (the Sermon on the Mount describes this as a sin as grave as the act itself). But in a society in which freedom of speech is supposedly protected by law, this cannot be considered a crime.
Furthermore, it’s not necessary to threaten or even to criticize the police in order to find one’s self in jail facing charges of “threatening” those poor, cringing little creatures.
Elisha Strom, a 34-year-old blogger from Virgina, is currently in the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail on a charge of seeking to “coerce, intimidate, or harass” police officers by publishing the address of an undercover narcotics agent on her blog, “I HeArTE JADE.”
The title of that blog refers to the Jefferson Area Drug Enforcement (JADE) task force, whose personnel and activities have been subjected to whimsical mockery therein.
If convicted of the offense, which is a sixth degree felony under the recently revised state statute, Strom would face a mandatory six-month jail sentence.
Mrs. Strom became interested in the doings of the JADE Task Force because one of its members was involved in the arrest of her husband Kevin, who was found guilty of possessing child pornography. She points out that the statute’s applicability depends on proving that the personal information she published — which is publicly available — was provided to readers with the intent to “harass” or “intimidate” a given police officer.

Elisha Strom’s husband, Kevin Alfred Strom, was jailed as the Rockwell site states. But Mr. Strom, a political activist that the government doesn’t like, maintains his innocence and says that Elisha Strom perjured herself and planted false evidence with the help of Brian N. O’Donnell of the Joint Terrorism Task Force in a politically-motivated prosecution.
Brian O’Donnell and Elisha Strom became very close during the prosecution of Kevin Strom. But, according to the blog in question (iheartejade.blogspot.com) written by Elisha herself, O’Donnell somehow spurned her and they had a falling out. That was the beginning of her blogging about and stalking O’Donnell and the members of a local drug-bust team that O’Donnell headed, the Jefferson Area Drug Enforcement Task Force (JADE).

Elisha Strom also apparently had a romantic / sexual relationship with another Charlottesville Police Department officer who was close to the JADE operation, and used him to get inside information on the JADE officers, which she subsequently published.
Her recent behavior is leading many to think that her testimony in her husband’s trial was unreliable.

There’s even more evidence now that Elisha Strom was having a sexual affair with JADE Task Force detective Brian N. O’Donnell, whom she credits with “inspiring” her obsessive stalking, evidently after their relationship went bad.
This is really getting interesting.
Apparently this sexual affair took place during the trial of her husband, Kevin Alfred Strom, on child pornography and other charges. Kevin Strom maintains his innocence and says he was forced to plead guilty to one count because of perjury on Elisha Strom’s part and the suborning of that perjury by O’Donnell. O’Donnell was the investigator in Kevin Strom’s case. Elisha Strom was the only witness.
Elisha Strom has just posted a link to a recorded telephone conversation she had with said Brian O’Donnell, in which it is quite clear she spent the night with O’Donnell on at least one occasion. He is very nervous about his wife finding out about his relationship with Strom. O’Donnell also expresses fear about possible repercussions to his career on the Joint Terrorism Task Force and JADE task force and to his career as a Charlottesville Police Detective.
O’Donnell states flatly that Elisha Strom lied to him on several occasions.

Transcript of conversation:
Detective Brian N. O’Donnell: Of course I got upset. So yeah, I said things… You there?
Elisha Strom: Yeah, I’m thinking.
Detective Brian N. O’Donnell: That was a good rant. I didn’t want to waste it on thin air. I thought you hung up.
Elisha Strom: No, no. It was wonderful, fantastic, delightful.
Detective Brian N. O’Donnell: (laughs) The point is…
Elisha Strom: (laughs)
Detective Brian N. O’Donnell: The point is, OK, you know, you treat me like shit. You have lied to me. You said you haven’t lied, and you have. I know you have. I’m not going to get into how I know, but I know you have. You were playing games. That’s NOT RIGHT.
Elisha Strom: I was not playing games.
Detective Brian N. O’Donnell: You are now. Even mentioning my wife makes me nervous. You spend the whole night over here. You don’t seem to understand. I’m a Task Force officer. I’m a Charlottesville Police detective. It’s only your word right now. There you go.
Elisha Strom: I didn’t bring anything up!
Detective Brian N. O’Donnell: Well thank you. That was decent of you. I meant that sincerely.
Elisha Strom: You know, you are just so arrogant –
Detective Brian N. O’Donnell: Is that — is that fair to say? I was actually thinking that about you.
Elisha Strom: (sighs)
Detective Brian N. O’Donnell: Hey, you know what? It’s your decision. It’s your decision. It really is. So, I will call you tomorrow. See ya.

Apparently she’s been arrested yet again, this time for violating her court order:
