Due to recent Motor Home Diaries events, I feel I should compose a little post regarding the plight of all people deemed by others to be geographically incorrect.  You may have heard that the MHD guys were denied entry into Canada, were detained and had their ALL pamphlets confiscated.  I am particularly fond of one of the ALL pamphlets we distributed at porcfest called, An Anarchist Look at World Trade.  The cover of this pamphlet is to the right and part of it reads, “Fuck neoliberalism,  Fuck borders.”

Now the actual pamphlet is geared mostly towards those protesting the WTO.  It does however reveal the much larger problem of borders in general.  The invisible line we call a border is probably one of the most universally accepted forms of state violence.  Many people believe that we need a “strong” border to keep “foreigners” from taking our jobs or “killing Americans.”  The truth of the matter is the border makes everyone around it poorer.  The violence involved in maintaining a border prevents the spread and growth of wealth through free trade and causes many of the problems we claim we maintain it for.

It’s a real shame when you see people in the liberty movement support state violence in the form of borders. It is my hope that this MHD incident will help more people realize just how immoral borders are.  If you need some help remembering, here’s a little Propagandhi for you, with a good mantra for any libertarian, “Fuck the Border”:

A friend of mine dropped me a line, it said, “man, I gotta run to the USA. I got no money, got no job.” She skipped out of Mexico to stay alive. You’ve got a problem with her living here, but what did you do to help her before she fucking came? What did the country do? What did the people do? I stand not by my country, but by people of the whole fucking world. No fences, no borders. Free movement for all. Fuck the border. It’s about fucking time to treat people with respect. It’s our culture and consumption that makes her life unbearable. Fuck this country; its angry eyes, its knee-jerk hordes. Legal or illegal, watch her fucking go. She’ll take what’s hers. Watch her fucking go. Fuck the border.
