		<description>As I understood it they more or less did that a few years ago. You can have just about anything as collateral it seems. Which in some respects makes sense but in an open market different collateral would have different weights based on risk. I doubt the Fed does much of that... but perhaps I'm wrong. It's difficult to know exactly what's going on up their and they are never really audited so likely we never will.</description>

		<description>Kinda off topic, but I did not realize &lt;a href="http://seekingalpha.com/article/95129-fdic-insurance-fund-it-doesn-t-actually-exist" rel="nofollow"&gt;this&lt;/a&gt;.  So when more savings banks go tits up and the FDIC needs to start repaying accounts...  the money  will ultimately come from the general tax fund?  (Ie, the very same people who hold these accounts?)</description>
