50K protesters expected at RNC, I predict lots of cracked skulls

So say organizers preparing for the 2008 Republican National Convention, set to take place in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Organizers estimate 50,000 protesters are getting ready to demonstrate outside the RNC, in the largest anti-war protest planned so far this year.
“We have word that people are coming on busses and carpools, people are flying in from all over the country,” said Katrina Plotz, an organizer for an RNC protest group. “We are expecting the police to uphold our right to demonstrate, to speak out against the war.”
AP Correspondent Haven Daley said in a Wednesday news video that it may be difficult keeping the protests peaceful, attributing his ominous prediction to “anarchist groups” which were not named.
More negative usage of the word anarchist. Those people are generally violent, confused communists. I’d bet that more then half the time the ‘anarchists’ are in fact plants by the police.

Those videos are really annoying. Just show the footage.
They seem to be stereotypical “anarchist” anti-capitalists.

I always hated the bandanna look. It makes one look like a coward and it really isn’t supposed to help much with tear gas.

I think it’s for anonymity mainly… so yeah… cowardly. I don’t think it helps at all with tear gas. Depends on they type they use but I’m sure even the least offensive will easily make it through anything but a gas mask.

When I used to do security at basketball games, students would show up wearing bandannas. I knew them all, so the anonymity was gone. I could also tell them apart just by their voice. I think people just think it makes them look tough.
At laser tag new people sometimes wear bandannas. It’s sort of like a “hey let’s get pumped, hear comes trouble” kind of ritual. Something about it really pisses me off. In conflicts, it is probably the fact that it makes it tougher to read facial expressions which puts everyone in heightened vigilance mode. The V for Vendetta masks piss me off too. Masks in general rub me the wrong way.

Oh, also the chick in the picture with the bandanna looks like she could be xyz and I’m proud of you for prefacing the word communist with violent and confused instead of just assuming all communists, by the nature of the word, are violent and confused.

Proud? How about ‘appreciate?’ Sounds less arrogant.
I don’t assume all communists are violent AND confused. Just confused, ignorant, and/or idealistic to a fault.

riot police are not going to be able to tell who these kids are by their voice.

@bosco
really. that “chick” is a dude.

@bile
You’re right riot police won’t be able to tell them apart by voice. The police will be able to tell the ones who’ve already been tazed because they will be convulsing.
Concerning my hubris: I wouldn’t be so arrogant if I wasn’t so right all the darn time. It’s tough being me, when your every thought is correct just by virtue of the fact that I had it.
@xyz
It’s really a dude? Must be one of them pretty dudes then. I’m not gay or anything but I would totally have sex with that man for pleasure. Especially if he wore the bandanna. No homo.
