Regarding the Inherently Social Nature of Human Beings
Posted on June 21st, 2008 by bosco Tags: anarchism, collectivism, individualism, philosophy, sandals and candles, sociology, UncategorizedYet again Social Memory Complex hits another homerun with this little gem. Granted I recognize that I’m biased but I find the amount of times I agree with what this person has to say to be uncanny. It’s not just the Belle and Sebastian quotes either. I enjoy the content. In this piece the author does a nice job of pointing out the existential nature of cooperation. Too many people pin anarchists as extreme individualists when the fact of the matter is we all act within a natural collective that doesn’t seem to require centralized control. People, like most animals, have an inborn instinct to “get along” and with education we can satisfy this instinct without the use of violence.

Hey, thanks for the kind words. I read this a while ago and had been meaning to thank you. I’ve developed some of the ideas in that post you refer to into an essay, which I should be posted in the near future.
