Kane (Glen Jacobs) wins ECW Championship at WrestleMania XXIV
Posted on April 3rd, 2008 by bile Categories and Tags: Uncategorized, Entertainment, freedom, FTL party, Glen Jacobs, libertarianism, liberty, Nashua, New Hampshire, Ron Paul, TVWhile Kane is revered for a combination of size, strength and agility that has allowed him to dominate WWE rings for the past decade, his in-ring strategy is often overlooked. But a brilliant plan is exactly what the Big Red Machine used to defeat Chavo Guerrero and walk out of WrestleMania XXIV as the new ECW Champion.
Glen is a Free State Project member, a libertarian, blogger, the podcaster Citizen X (LibertyRadioUnderground, Tiny Political Show), Ron Paul supporter, and all around nice guy. xyz and myself met him up in Nashua, New Hampshire at the 2008 FSP Liberty Forum. We apparently missed a FTL party he attended which would have been nice to further talk with him and find out what he’s been up to in the liberty movement besides the obvious. Perhaps he will be at PorcFest.
In any case, nice to hear he’s doing well over at the WWE. I wonder how they decide who’s going to win something like that or if it’s ad lib. Seems to me scripting a royal rumble would be really difficult.

What do you mean "decide who’s going to win"? The person who wins is the one who pins the other guy. It’s a contest of strength and agility.

I never knew that he was CitizenX, very cool stuff. The Guerreros (RIP: Eddie) were all about "lying and cheating and stealing" … and wealth redistribution for the state, so this win has got to be especially sweet for our free market champion.

I had thought it was still a secret but somewhere recently (on Gardner Goldsmith’s show I believe) I heard him give out one of his websites and on the tiny political show the other people will occation call him by his first name. So he still goes by the alias but it doesn’t appear it’s such a big deal. It was going to get out at somepoint anyway given his behavior.

In regards to scripting a Royal Rumble, it’s more than likely what’s known as a "worked shoot." That is to say, everyone knows beforehand who’s supposed to win, and a few major events may be scripted, but the majority of the action is ad-libbed.
Generally, though, for big things like Championship Matches and other main events, they’re painstakingly scripted to try to ensure maximum entertainment value.
