Yeah, for a moment I thought this was slashdot and never bothered reading the article. (I had thought the article in question was just an American aversion to this hoodie.) So I looked at this photo and fell out of my seat laughing.

And what's the deal with sneakers outside the gym? Where are these kids running off to so quickly?

At my high school, hoodies were not only an official part of warmup uniforms for a lot of sports teams, but sold in the school store. With this reasoning, why aren't they outlawing pockets? Those are awfully convenient to store stolen merchandise.

Oh yeah, I've seen a bunch of these at school already. There are lots of teachers "concerned" about what should be done. I say you just treat it like someone was wearing a ski-mask, as them to take it off. What's to stop someone from walking around with a ski-mask anyway? The stores by me refuse service to people wearing real low brims and glasses or ski-masks. I don't see why the stores around there shouldn't do the same.

Personally if some punk kid wants to wear something to dramatically decrease their peripheral vision, I think you should have no trouble sneaking up on them a wrapping a zip tie around the top part of their hoodie.
