Cops bust teen root beer party

WAUSAU, Wis — Cars lining the street. A house full of young people. A keg and drinking games inside. Police thought they had an underage boozing party on their hands.
But though they made dozens of teens take breath tests, none tested positive for alcohol. That’s because the keg contained root beer.
… Nearly 90 breath tests were done, and officers even searched locked rooms for hiding teens…
You never which terrorists might be at these root beer keggers, right? Reno 911 writers take note. I’m surprised that the kids weren’t charged with some kind of frivolous charge for not actually breaking the law.

There is a restaurant/bar by me that has outstanding birch beer on tap and some of the best tomato pies I’ve ever had.
Anyway this reinforces my theory that cops waste money when they don’t have anything to do. I’m sure Wausau, WI isn’t a booming metropolis (est pop. 38,000) and doesn’t have rampant crime problems. Instead of sending people to prison, perhaps we should ship them to Wausau, WI so the cops have something to do.

I heard from the folks that DeLorenzo’s has a new place out in Robbinsville (in that oddly urban stretch they’re developing on 33 near 130). They were closed when my family tried to go a few weekends ago, so no news on quality. If it’s anything like their Hudson/Hamilton spots, I think I’ll make a pitstop next time down. Hopefully this one will have a bathroom.
