Dear Liberty Dollar Supporters:
I sincerely regret to inform you that about 8:00 this morning a dozen FBI and Secret Service agents raided the Liberty Dollar office in Evansville.
For approximately six hours they took all the gold, all the silver, all the platinum and almost two tons of Ron Paul Dollars that where just delivered last Friday. They also took all the files, all the computers and froze our bank accounts.
We have no money. We have no products. We have no records to even know what was ordered or what you are owed. We have nothing but the will to push forward and overcome this massive assault on our liberty and our right to have real money as defined by the US Constitution. We should not to be defrauded by the fake government money.
But to make matters worse, all the gold and silver that backs up the paper certificates and digital currency held in the vault at Sunshine Mint has also been confiscated. Even the dies for mint the Gold and Silver Libertys have been taken.
If true this is very upsetting. Unfortunately I’ve found no other sources and I wasn’t on the mailing list but the link to the class action suit is functional. I’m not a huge fan of the Liberty Dollar but I fully support the idea. I do have 2 $1 silver certificates… therefore it seems that the federal government has robbed me once again.
UPDATE:
The Evansville Courier Press has an article on the raid but still no first hand confirmation.

Holy fucking shit, I was seriously thinking about getting some too and just the other day I was recommending Liberty Dollars to someone. I really hope there’s a class action lawsuit coming. At the very least, the people with unfilled orders should be taken care of.

I’d like to see what the warrant said. Better yet, I’d like to know what kind of a case they are trying to build. Initial reports usually suck.

From my searches on ronpaulforums.com it appears someone called the mint and the person didn’t know anything and the actual Liberty Dollar numbers are busy or no pickup. Still no confirmation though apparently someone called the Alex Jones show and claims he spoke to the owner and confirmed it.

I thought this was informative.

For some reason I didn’t think that alternate currency exchange just amounts to bartering… at least is does to the Feds.

Yup. The government has a monopoly on currency… outlawing competing currency so it has to be barter. As long as you don’t try to pass anything else as legal tender you’re OK.

As far as bartering is concerned, can we say freedom of contract?
The buzz on the blogs I was reading is that it might be a fraud case, in which case the state would have to show that the liberty dollar people were knowingly misrepresenting the product or services they provide.

This is why anglo far east bullion company came up with a coinage system that is unconfiscatable http://wealthbygold.com for just such a reason as this.
