Ron Paul infomercials?

LeFave is preparing to pitch the same idea to the campaign team that I voiced in my column two days ago. I spoke with LeFave by phone, and it was clear to me that he is very excited about doing this project.
“I’ve already priced a coordinated media buy in New Hampshire and Iowa, and I’ve checked out the various TV network requirements. Basically, as long as they can offer the same thing to the other candidates, there is no problem with buying prime-time for an infomercial. This is great for two reasons. One, the idea is perfect for someone like Ron Paul who needs to be heard in detail. Two, the other candidates aren’t likely to have an infomercial ready in the short time left between now and the beginning of January,” said LeFave.
I’d like to see this done just to see if it has any impact. It surely did with Ross Perot. Paul’s platform is a bit more sophisticated than the rest of those running and requires more than 30 seconds to explain. Several 3 minute segments would be perfect to do just that. Like with the Google interview, his appearance on The Tonight Show and his You Choose ‘08 interviews… more time definitely helps.

On the left we’ve filled an ordinary bowl with Ron Paul, on the right we’ve filled the bowl with our leading competitor. We place cranberry stained t-shirts in each of the bowls and agitate them. As you can see the cranberry stains have been completely lifted from the Ron Paul T-shirt, our competitor’s t-shirt is still a dingy red.

I’ve started seeing Ron Paul ads on NBC up here (the Boston affiliate) targeted towards NH voters. It’s a bit cheesy, but gets his name out. Note — this is not the infomercial, but a quick 20-30 sec clip during commercial breaks.

Yeah… those are over a week old. Seems I forgot to post about them. The second one is better but both are fairly cheesy. Reminds me of local election spots. A lot of Paul supporters were pissed over that first one… most noting that random fan made YouTube videos were better.
