Federal Marshals set up a roadblock on Center of Town Road in Plainfield today and are refusing to let anyone visit the Browns. In a deliberate act of civil disobedience, Lauren Canario began walking to the Brown’s home from the roadblock and was arrested.
At the roadblock on Center of Town Road, I walked past the state police, the county sheriff, but the fat U.S. Marshal asked,” Where are you going”?
“Taking a walk,” I answered. Numerous police started shouting at me.
Peaceful people found guilty of no crime arrested for walking down the street and admitting to supporting Ed and Elaine Brown who were convicted of tax evasion and have refused to be arrested. Seems the federal government has started to crackdown and will probably attempt a siege. I wonder if the supporters will come up with other ways to get supplies to them.

I’ll bite, let me see if I get this straight:
1 - Browns convicted of tax evasion.
2 - Browns refuse to be arrested.
3 - Peaceful people admitting to supporting the Browns.

Yes. And? These people were arrested for driving/walking down the street for admitting they were going to see the Browns who were supposed to be holding a party/picnic. It’s a public road which leads to more than just the Brown’s home.
I do not believe what the Browns did was wrong. I do not believe associating with the Browns is wrong.

Nothing. I see the police officer’s response as logical. They aren’t there to determine if (1) was correct or not. The police are to enforce (2) and arrest anyone who engages in (3). Did they step over the line, maybe, I dunno, I’m not here to debate that. Instead, I’ll ask is it still aiding and abetting if the original crime in question is overturned? (Same for obstruction of justice, if that may apply.)

Can you clarify what this means?

Supporting the Browns I suppose. My point of the post was the fact I believe they overstepped the line of acceptability. Again, I don’t agree with taxation and therefore don’t believe not paying is a crime. This couple has not been violent in any way and only threatened to protect themselves if the government chooses to invade their property. Arresting people for ideologically supporting someone is what has happened and it’s outrageous. No charges were filed as far as I’ve heard… because they did nothing wrong. Yet, the film from her video recorder was kept ‘as evidence’… for what??? No charges were filed.

clearly this was an effort to make examples and insight fear into the minds of supporters.
there will be consequences!

(3) I left vague because I am not a lawyer or judge, so I do not know exactly what constitutes ‘aiding and abetting’. That was my intent, not ‘walking down a road’.

like what? What are you threatening/predicting?

Consequences like this?

I missed that one… though I’ve not gotten through all my news. This guys shouldn’t have resisted like that. Going limp is better and you’ll get off with less charges. Regardless… gotta love youtube.
